Nexus, the Public Transport Authority for Tyne and Wear (Newcastle) in northern England, oversees and manages public transport services provided by multiple operators in the area.

Our team at Thetis IT engineered an advanced AVL-RTI Data Broker system for Nexus, delivering a state-of-the-art MaaS solution that seamlessly integrates data from all public transport operators in the region.

We designed this innovative multi-operator system to simultaneously collect and monitor vehicle and forecast data from every operator in the Tyne and Wear area. The real-time data we process is then shared with third-party systems, enhancing traffic light priority and feeding into the National Railway's travel planner.

Our solution efficiently handles data from approximately 2,000 vehicles (both buses and trains) and 60 operators across the North East LTA area. We've implemented a management framework contract to ensure service certification for all local public transport operators, maintaining high standards of service quality.

To further enhance passenger experience, we've incorporated a Display Management System (DMS) into our solution. This system provides up-to-date timetable and service status information for displays at bus stops and major terminals, keeping passengers informed in real-time.
